Meta has begun offering content creators the option to receive earnings in USDC stablecoin via crypto wallets on Solana and Polygon, marking its return to digital payments after abandoning its Diem project.

The rollout is currently limited to select creators in Colombia and the Philippines, with payments processed through Stripe and compatible with wallets such as MetaMask, Phantom and Binance.

“We strive to offer the most relevant payment methods, which is why we are exploring how stablecoins could become part of our suite of options,”

A Meta spokesperson said.

The company emphasised it is not issuing its own token, instead using USD Coin, a dollar-pegged stablecoin with a market capitalisation exceeding $77 billion.

The system leverages Solana and Polygon to enable faster, lower-cost transactions compared with traditional payment rails.

Meta’s move represents a strategic shift from its earlier Libra, later Diem, initiative, which was shelved in 2022 following regulatory pressure.

Rising institutional interest in stablecoins, supported by recent US regulation and forecasts of significant market growth, suggests digital dollar payments are becoming a core part of financial infrastructure.

At the time of reporting, Solana price was $83.10.
