Ledger has unveiled Atom, an Android-based device combining smartphone functionality with dedicated hardware security for cryptocurrency transactions.

The device runs Android alongside Ledger OS, separating everyday applications from the security system protecting users’ digital assets.

Ledger’s announcement positions Atom as a device designed to protect users’ digital assets and sensitive information without compromising everyday smartphone functionality.

Atom uses a secure chip and protected display to let users review and approve transactions separately from ordinary smartphone applications.

A physical switch can cut power to the camera and microphone, giving users direct control over those components.

The device will also integrate Solana Mobile’s Seeker app and Solana dApp Store, extending access to applications built around Solana (SOL).

Ledger is accepting reservations for Atom, with shipping planned for 2027 as the company expands beyond dedicated hardware wallets.

The launch positions Ledger to expand its presence in the cryptocurrency hardware security market.
