  • KuCoin expanded its payment platform into Argentina and Peru through integrations with major QR-based payment networks.
  • The rollout allows consumers to use cryptocurrencies and stablecoins through existing payment systems at participating merchants.
  • The company said the expansion focuses on increasing everyday payment use cases for digital assets in South America.

KuCoin announced the expansion of KuCoin Pay into Argentina and Peru, allowing cryptocurrencies and stablecoins to be used through established QR-code payment networks.

The move comes as digital wallets and instant payment systems gain widespread adoption across South America amid demand for alternatives to traditional banking and card payments.

“Real-world utility will define the next phase of crypto adoption, and payments are where this shift becomes most visible,” said KuCoin Managing Director Alicia Kao.

Under the rollout, KuCoin Pay will integrate with Argentina's Transferencias 3.0 framework and connect with Peru's Yape and Plin payment applications, enabling transactions through existing QR-code infrastructure.

KuCoin said its payment system automatically converts cryptocurrency or stablecoin balances into local fiat currency at checkout, while Following the announcement the company did not disclose transaction volume targets or revenue projections.

Transferencias 3.0 requires interoperable QR codes that allow consumers to pay through multiple digital wallets, including Mercado Pago, using a single merchant QR code.

The expansion places KuCoin in a competitive regional payments market where financial technology firms are increasingly integrating digital assets into existing payment networks rather than relying on standalone cryptocurrency applications.
