Humanity Protocol confirmed hackers stole about US$36 million from one of its operational wallets.
The company said the breach did not affect customer funds, protocol assets or user identities.
"This incident was limited to an operational wallet and did not impact user assets," Humanity Protocol said.
The company said it has started an investigation, worked with security experts and contacted law enforcement.
Humanity Protocol also said it is improving internal security and monitoring systems to reduce future risks.
Humanity Protocol develops blockchain-based digital identity technology that lets users verify their identity without revealing personal information.
The incident adds to a growing number of crypto security breaches targeting operational wallets rather than blockchain networks themselves.
