Gate.io denied claims it delayed a police investigation after a user lost $1.7 million in crypto.

The user claimed Gate.io waited 10 days before sharing key records with police after the case began.

"We have prioritised this case," Gate.io said.

Gate.io said police documents were incomplete and could not be verified. It asked for updated documents before releasing records.

The exchange said the theft did not result from a platform security breach. It said it is still waiting for the requested documents.

The user reported the theft on July 8. The account used phone, email and Google Authenticator security.

Gate.io said its checks approved the withdrawals. The company said customer assets remain secure.
