Franklin Templeton acquires 250 Digital for crypto

Franklin Templeton completed its acquisition of 250 Digital and launched Franklin Crypto, a new division that combines the acquired firm's crypto strategies with its existing digital asset operations.

The acquisition closes a transaction first announced in April after CoinFund separated its liquid strategies business into 250 Digital earlier this year.

“As institutional demand for digital assets evolves, Franklin Crypto combines specialised investment expertise with our existing digital asset capabilities,” said Franklin Templeton digital assets executive Tony Pecore.

Former 250 Digital executives Christopher Perkins and Seth Ginns will lead Franklin Crypto alongside Pecore, while Franklin Templeton did not disclose the financial terms of the transaction.

Franklin Templeton said the new division will provide institutional investors with actively managed cryptocurrency strategies through its global distribution platform, while Following the announcement the Franklin Templeton share price was unchanged at US$25.84.

Earlier this month, Franklin Templeton integrated its BENJI tokenised money market fund with MoonPay Trade and later filed for two exchange-traded funds designed to direct stock dividend income into Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC)-linked investments.

According to RWA.xyz, Franklin Templeton's tokenised assets increased from approximately US$768 million in June 2025 to more than US$2.5 billion, while industry-wide tokenised real-world assets grew from about US$11.8 billion to US$32.2 billion over the same period.
