Ethereum Foundation sells 10K ETH to BitMine
The Ethereum Foundation has sold 10,000 ether in an over-the-counter deal to BitMine Immersion Technologies for about $22.9 million as part of its treasury strategy.
The transaction was priced at an average of $2,292.15 per ETH and follows a similar March sale of 5,000 ETH to the same buyer, signalling an ongoing relationship.
The foundation said proceeds will fund core operations, including research and development, ecosystem growth and community grants.
The sale forms part of a structured treasury management approach, where ETH holdings are periodically converted into fiat to maintain operational runway while limiting market disruption.
BitMine, led by Tom Lee, has increasingly acted as a key institutional accumulator of ETH through repeated purchases from the foundation.
The transactions are executed over the counter to avoid impacting spot market prices and are conducted via disclosed multisignature wallets for transparency.
The continued sales highlight how the Ethereum Foundation balances long-term holdings with funding needs while institutional demand for ETH exposure continues to grow.
At the time of reporting, Ethereum price was $2,297.17.
