DonAlt targets $10K ETH but plans to sell at $3K

  • Prominent crypto trader DonAlt has disclosed that he opened a long Ethereum (CRYPTO:ETH) position near US$1,900 on 13 August 2026, acknowledging that the entry point coincided with a resistance level within a consolidating market rather than an optimal technical setup.
  • DonAlt explained that the psychological discomfort of sitting out of the market entirely influenced his decision to enter at a non-ideal price, noting the tension between textbook technical analysis discipline and the real-world challenge of holding no position.
  • He identified three price targets for his Ethereum (CRYPTO:ETH) position: a practical profit-taking level at US$3,000 where he intends to sell, a formal target of US$4,000, and an ambitious macro target of US$10,000 representing his long-term bull case for the asset.

Despite holding a US$10,000 macro target, DonAlt stated his intent to take profits at US$3,000, representing a 57% gain from his entry level, citing past experience with missed targets as the primary reason for his conservative profit-taking approach.

DonAlt referenced his XRP (CRYPTO:XRP) trade from the 2024–2025 bull run, in which he correctly called a move from US$0.50 to US$3.50 but had set a maximum target of US$6.90 that was never reached before the market reversed — a lesson that now shapes his preference for securing gains over holding for maximum upside.

He noted that if Ethereum (CRYPTO:ETH) were to decline to the US$1,700 level, which he characterised as a supportive zone, he would consider adding to his position size.

The trade reflects a broader tension in active trading between analytically optimal entries and the psychological reality of managing position anxiety during periods of market consolidation and uncertainty.

At the time of reporting, Ethereum price was $1,904.71.
