Coinbase legal chief exits July 31
- Coinbase Chief Legal Officer Paul Grewal will move into an advisory role on July 31.
- Molly Abraham will become general counsel, while Ryan VanGrack will become vice chair of the legal team.
- The leadership change comes as Coinbase continues supporting US crypto market legislation.
Coinbase said Chief Legal Officer Paul Grewal will leave his role on July 31 and become an adviser to the company.
The company said legal vice presidents Molly Abraham and Ryan VanGrack will become general counsel and vice chair of the legal team.
“Take the helm,” said Molly Abraham, referring to her new role leading Coinbase's legal team.
Grewal said he will continue serving on the board of Coinbase National Trust Company and plans to announce his next role later.
Coinbase continues supporting the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, which would change how digital assets are regulated in the United States.
Grewal joined Coinbase in 2020 and led the company's legal response to the Securities and Exchange Commission's 2023 enforcement action.
The lawsuit was dismissed under the Trump administration, and Coinbase has since increased its engagement with US lawmakers on crypto policy.
