
Citi to launch Bitcoin custody later this year
- Citi plans to launch institutional Bitcoin custody later in 2026 through its new Custody+ platform.

Citigroup plans to launch institutional Bitcoin custody later this year through its new Custody+ platform.
The service will initially support Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC) and use Citi’s existing digital asset architecture.
Citi said Custody+ will combine digital assets with traditional securities within one custody framework for institutional clients.
The platform will also offer settlement, liquidity management, foreign exchange services and market data, while Citi invests more than $2 billion yearly.
Citigroup shares closed at $137.65 on August 18, down 0.62%, according to MarketWatch.
Citi has also developed tokenised deposits and plans tokenised depositary receipts linked to private company shares.
At the time of reporting, Bitcoin price was $64,564.05.
