Cboe Global Markets (BATS:CBOE) has extended its exclusive S&P 500 options licensing agreement through 2051.

The deal continues more than 40 years of collaboration between Cboe and S&P Dow Jones Indices.

“This extension allows us to further grow our SPX and VIX franchises,” according to Cboe CEO Craig Donohue.

The agreement also creates opportunities to develop products beyond traditional index derivatives, including tokenised options contracts.

“Investor demand for exposure to U.S. equities continues to accelerate,” according to S&P DJI CEO Catherine Clay.

SPX options recorded 970.6 million contracts in 2025, averaging 3.9 million contracts daily.

That annual volume increased 25% from 2024, marking the fourth consecutive year of record trading activity.

Following the announcement, Cboe Global Markets shares closed 3.35% higher at $261.75.
