Blockchain Association CEO Summer Mersinger urged US lawmakers not to let ethics disagreements derail crypto market structure legislation.

The bill has stalled as senators negotiate ethics rules before deciding whether to support the legislation.

"Whatever you decide on ethics, that's really not our concern, but please don't let it kill all the hard work that we put in the rest of the bill," said Blockchain Association CEO Summer Mersinger.

Mersinger said lawmakers have resolved most issues, with ethics provisions remaining the biggest obstacle.

The bill's progress now depends on whether lawmakers can reach a bipartisan agreement before the Senate's August recess.

The proposed legislation would create clearer rules for digital assets by defining the roles of US financial regulators.

The debate comes as Congress continues working on legislation that the crypto industry says would provide greater regulatory certainty.
