Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC) recovered toward US$63,000 after Strategy sold 3,588 BTC for dividend funding, prompting Bitwise Chief Executive Officer Hunter Horsley to say the cryptocurrency "wants to be higher."

The recovery followed an initial decline after Strategy disclosed the sale, with the company stating it still holds 843,775 BTC and US$2.55 billion in cash reserves after funding dividend obligations linked to its Digital Credit securities.

“Bitcoin wants to be higher,” said Bitwise Chief Executive Officer Hunter Horsley.

Strategy said the Bitcoin sale forms part of its Digital Credit Capital Framework, which allows the company to monetise up to US$1.25 billion of its Bitcoin holdings under certain conditions to support dividends, interest costs, share buybacks and cash reserves.

Bitcoin recovered after the announcement, suggesting buyers absorbed the additional supply, while there was no separate market reaction to Horsley's comments beyond the broader price rebound.

Market participants continue monitoring spot Bitcoin ETF flows, leverage levels, macroeconomic data and expectations for U.S. interest rate cuts, with weaker employment data increasing expectations that the Federal Reserve could ease monetary policy.

Strategy's latest transaction has also shifted investor focus toward how corporate Bitcoin treasury companies may use digital assets as a source of liquidity, with traders watching whether future institutional demand can absorb additional treasury sales without larger price declines.

At the time of reporting, Bitcoin price was $63,330.32.
