Crypto exchange OKX has appointed former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo to its board as the company expands its operations in the United States.
OKX said Cuomo's experience in government and public policy will support its strategy as it works through the evolving US regulatory environment.
“Governor Cuomo has been a thoughtful voice for OKX for years, and his move to the board formalises a relationship that has already shaped how we approach the U.S. market. As we build OKX into the infrastructure layer for both traditional and digital finance, we need people who understand how governments, institutions and markets actually think. That's exactly what he brings,” said OKX Founder and CEO Star Xu.
The appointment comes as OKX increases its focus on the US market following recent regulatory developments affecting digital asset companies.
OKX recently resumed its US expansion after resolving regulatory matters and said it aims to broaden access to its digital asset products and services.
Several global cryptocurrency exchanges have increased investment in the United States as lawmakers continue developing a clearer regulatory framework for digital assets.
OKX said Cuomo's appointment forms part of its broader governance strategy as it pursues long-term growth in the US market.
