Anchorage adds Lido staking to custody platform
- Anchorage Digital has integrated Lido, allowing institutional clients to mint and burn wrapped staked Ether without moving assets outside regulated custody.
- The integration enables institutions to access Ethereum staking rewards while keeping custody, governance, reporting and settlement on a single platform.
- Lido said growing institutional demand and its staking infrastructure are supporting wider adoption of custody-based staking services.
Anchorage Digital has integrated Lido, enabling institutional clients to mint and burn Wrapped Staked Ether (CRYPTO:WSTETH) directly within its regulated custody platform without transferring assets to external providers.
The integration allows institutions to gain exposure to Ethereum (CRYPTO:ETH) staking rewards while continuing to use Anchorage's custody, governance, reporting and settlement services, reducing operational complexity.
“By integrating with Lido, we're giving institutions access to wstETH without the operational or security tradeoffs that have historically kept large allocators on the sidelines,” said Anchorage Digital co-founder and chief executive Nathan McCauley.
Anchorage said clients can convert Ether into Wrapped Staked Ether and redeem it through the platform, while Lido said the token remains transferable for collateral use and other investment strategies without requiring investors to exit the underlying staking position.
Anchorage said the integration expands its institutional digital asset services, and following the announcement there was no direct market reaction.
Lido said institutional demand for custody-based staking has increased as regulation and staking infrastructure have matured, adding that the protocol has spent more than US$4 million on smart contract audits and distributes staked Ether across more than 900 node operators.
The launch follows Anchorage Digital's recent partnership with Binance, which allows eligible institutional clients to trade on the exchange while keeping assets in segregated custody through Anchorage's Atlas platform.
At the time of reporting, Ethereum price was $1,707.29.
