  • Algorand Foundation has appointed William Herkelrath as CEO, replacing Staci Warden after nearly five years.
  • Herkelrath will focus on institutional adoption and post-quantum security.
  • The foundation has also reshuffled its board as Algorand expands its institutional strategy.

Algorand Foundation has appointed former Chainlink and Curv executive William Herkelrath as its new CEO.

Herkelrath formally took over on August 31 after Staci Warden led the organisation for almost five years.

“I joined Algorand because they are a leader in decentralised post-quantum cryptography,” said William Herkelrath, Algorand CEO.

Herkelrath has also co-founded AI automation company K3 Labs and held leadership roles at Chainlink and crypto custody firm Curv.

His appointment comes as Algorand targets greater institutional adoption and stronger protection against future quantum-computing threats.

Algorand has already introduced post-quantum accounts using Falcon-1024 signatures through its v42 consensus upgrade.

The foundation has also appointed Alex Fowler to its board, while Rebecca Rettig and Michael Mosier have departed.
