Yancoal secures New South Wales approval through 2045
- Yancoal Australia approved to extend Hunter Valley mine operations through 2045.
- Company stock closed at $5.98 per share following the regulatory announcement.
- Extension secures operational continuity for approximately 1,570 local mining workers.
Yancoal Australia (ASX:YAL) has secured state planning approval to continue operations at its Hunter Valley complex until 2045.
The approval follows a six-year regulatory review process involving adjusted project designs and community consultations.
"We are optimistic the final elements required can be secured, allowing HVO to operate the next 19 years to the benefit of our workforce, local business partners, regional community, shareholders, customers and the NSW economy," said Yancoal CEO Sharif Burra.
The company must still obtain federal environmental approval by 31 December 2026 to finalise long-term planning certainty.
Following the announcement, the Yancoal Australia share price was unchanged at $5.98.
The extension project aligns operational frameworks with federal net-zero policies and state legislative guidelines.
Yancoal continues negotiations with the National Environmental Protection Agency to secure remaining federal approvals.
