West African Resources (ASX:WAF) is positioning itself for a landmark year, forecasting record gold production for 2026 as it transitions into a multi-asset producer.

According to its latest production guidance, the unhedged miner expects to churn out between 430,000 and 490,000 ounces of gold, supported by an all-in sustaining cost maintained below US$1,900 per ounce.

The targets are underpinned by the first full year of operations at the Kiaka mine, which is slated to contribute a significant 240,000 to 280,000 ounces.

The surge in volume is complemented by steady performance at the Sanbrado site, with an anticipated output of 190,000 to 210,000 ounces.

Executive Chairman and CEO Richard Hyde noted that these increases, driven by higher throughputs and stable grid power, are crucial steps toward the group's long-term goal of becoming a sustainable 500,000+ ounce producer.

Beyond immediate extraction, WAF is doubling down on its "value through the drill-bit" strategy.

The company has allocated a US$20 million exploration budget for 2026, planning over 100,000m of drilling across Sanbrado, Kiaka, and surrounding anomalies to extend mine lives.

WAF confirmed that dividends and share buybacks are under active consideration for the second half of 2026.
