Vicinity Centres (ASX:VCX) announced an operational update after department store giant David Jones entered voluntary administration and receivership.

The retail landlord faces rental exposure across four flagship locations that generate $34 million, or 2.4%, of its portfolio gross rental income.

The company stated that the administration and receivership process remains at an early stage and the full financial impact cannot currently be determined with certainty.

As of Oct. 31, David Jones owes Vicinity Centres approximately $2.2 million in unpaid rent across lease agreements running as far out as 2041.

Following the announcement, the Vicinity Centres share price was unchanged at $2.48.

Vicinity Centres confirmed it maintains active contingency plans for each affected property and routinely evaluates alternative space usage across its assets.

The property group holds no bank guarantees for the four locations and plans to update the market once it reliably assesses any material impact on its FY27 earnings outlook.
