Sky Network Television (ASX:SKT) has executed an exclusive seven-year broadcast partnership with the Australian Rugby League Commission to retain New Zealand broadcast rights for the National Rugby League from January 2028 to December 2034.
The renewal extends a broadcast relationship that has spanned more than three decades, comparing favourably against standard shorter-term rights cycles in the sports media market.
“I am delighted that Sky has extended its long-standing partnership with the NRL and will continue to bring the sport we love to audiences across the country,” said Sky Chief Executive Sophie Moloney.
While the financial details remain commercially sensitive, the deal covers comprehensive live coverage of the men's and women's competitions across both subscription platforms and free-to-air channels.
Following the announcement, the Sky Network share price was up at $2.72.
The company stated that the transaction is expected to reinforce its position in the New Zealand sports entertainment market through a disciplined approach to content investment.
The long-term agreement marks the latest programming move for the broadcaster as it aims to secure core sporting assets for its digital streaming and linear portfolios.
