Sarytogan Graphite commences US bulk graphite purification trials

Share

Australian miner Sarytogan Graphite (ASX:SGA) commenced bulk purification trials at the American Energy Technologies Company facility in Chicago, United States.

The pilot-scale testing programme marks a crucial operational milestone for Sarytogan's high-grade graphite deposit located in the Karaganda region of Central Kazakhstan.

Sarytogan Managing Director Sean Gregory was welcomed to the site by AETC principals to oversee the launch of the processing initiative.

The extensive test work will utilise bulk samples of Sarytogan’s graphite concentrate, focusing on advanced processing techniques, including granulation, calcining, spheronisation, and thermal purification.

A key objective of the 2026 programme is to successfully scale up prior benchtop successes, which previously achieved ultra-high purities of up to 99.99% carbon.

The trials will deliver large-scale material samples to satisfy eager global customers, particularly across battery supply chains.

Additionally, AETC will supervise the fabrication and rigorous performance evaluation of 5Ah pouch cell lithium-ion batteries at a premier European battery innovation centre.

Data gathered from these downstream validation processes will directly inform Sarytogan's upcoming definitive feasibility study.
