RareX lodges proposal for Kenyan project
- RareX, in partnership with Iluka Resources, submitted a comprehensive proposal for Kenya's Mrima Hill Project.
- Shares in RareX remained unchanged at $0.009 following the regulatory filing.
- The bid aims to feed critical minerals into Iluka's government-backed processing facilities in Australia.
RareX (ASX:REE) finalised and submitted a formal bid on Oct. 21 for the Mrima Hill Rare Earth, Niobium and Phosphate Project in Kenya.
The submission marks the latest step in a process that began when Kenya's Ministry of Mining opened an expression of interest in March.
"We hope that a successful bid will result in an opportunity to deepen the long-standing partnership between Australia and Kenya whilst contributing to the development of secure and diversified global critical minerals supply chains," said RareX MD and CEO James Durrant.
The joint bid with Iluka Resources (ASX:ILU) details plans for social operating licences, environmental protection, and local training programmes.
RareX hopes a successful outcome will deepen partnership ties between Australia and Kenya while diversifying global critical mineral supply chains.
Following the announcement, the RareX share price was unchanged at $0.009.
The consortium formed in April 2025 before being shortlisted by Kenyan authorities in July 2026.
Under the proposed arrangement, feedstock from the Kenyan site would supply Iluka's Eneabba Rare Earth refinery in Western Australia.
