Perpetual Resources (ASX:PEC) announced an expansion of its critical minerals portfolio, securing applications for approximately 8,714 hectares of highly prospective tungsten tenure in Paraíba State, Brazil.

The acquisition places the company within the Seridó Mineral Province, recognised as South America's premier tungsten-producing district.

The region boasts a formidable history, having produced over 60,000 tonnes of WO3.

The newly acquired concessions are positioned within a proven high-grade corridor, located just 6km southwest of the historic Quixaba Mine and 22km from the Ilha Grande mine.

Perpetual’s exploration strategy will utilise the innovative "Root Zone" model, which targets shear zone-controlled mineralisation in basement gneisses.

The approach aims to identify mineralisation footprints that extend well beyond traditional skarn deposits, potentially unlocking vast new resources.

Beyond geological merit, the project benefits from proximity to established industrial infrastructure and operational wind farms, providing a viable "green energy" pathway for future operations.

The alignment with sustainable development is particularly timely, as tungsten is increasingly classified as a critical mineral by major global economies, including the US and EU.

The global market is currently forecast to expand at a CAGR of ~9% until 2030, driven by intense demand from the defence, energy transition, and advanced manufacturing sectors.

Perpetual plans to immediately commence field exploration, including mapping and geochemical resampling, to fast-track the prioritisation of drill targets in this high-value province.

At the time of reporting, Perpetual Resources’ share price was $0.11.
