Nine Entertainment secures Premier League rights until 2034
- Nine Entertainment has extended its exclusive Australian broadcast rights for Football's Premier League across six additional seasons from 2028-29 through 2033-34.
- The rights deal provides long-term content certainty for Stan Sport as its EBITDA grew from $40 million in FY21 to $81 million in FY26.
- Nine aims to leverage the rights across broadcast, digital, and outdoor media assets to expand its subscriber base and sports portfolio.
Nine Entertainment (ASX:NEC) has extended its exclusive Australian broadcast and streaming rights for the Premier League through the 2033-34 season.
The six-year extension builds on the previous deal acquired from Optus in 2025, covering all 38 match weeks and 10 matches per week across subscription and free platforms.
"Bringing the Premier League to Stan has been a genuine game-changer for our business, and we are very pleased to be extending the partnership for another 8 years," said Nine Entertainment CEO Matt Stanton.
The agreement entails rights fees for FY29 broadly in line with FY28 before scaling at roughly a 3% compound annual growth rate through the contract period, with higher costs to Stan offset by removing legacy Optus subscriber discounts alongside revenue initiatives.
Following the announcement, the Nine Entertainment share price was down at $0.78.
The media group has focused heavily on live sport, using major codes to drive user growth across its Stan Sport platform.
The company stated that the extended Premier League deal strengthens its wider sports portfolio alongside the NRL, NRLW, Rugby Union, and all four Tennis Grand Slams.
