Metgasco (ASX:MEL) announced the formal termination of its agreement to sell a 25% non-operated interest in the Odin and Vali gas fields to Vintage Energy (ASX:VEN).
The deal, originally established in December 2025, collapsed after Vintage failed to satisfy key pre-conditions by the March 31 sunset date.
Vintage was unable to secure the necessary funding commitments or finalise its concurrent acquisition of Bridgeport’s interest in the same tenements.
As a result of the termination, Metgasco is now obligated to repay an interest-free loan to Vintage, totalling $255,000, which covered three months of joint venture cash calls.
The payment is scheduled for completion by May 13.
Despite the deal’s dissolution, the underlying assets have seen recent positive developments; the South Australian Government recently awarded the joint venture $5 million in gas initiative grants for the Odin-3 and Vali-4 projects.
The grants remain contingent on drilling activities being completed by September 2028.
Looking ahead, Metgasco intends to pivot back to a collaborative operational strategy.
The company will work with its joint venture partners to maximise asset performance through the 2027 financial year, focusing on accelerating exploration within ATP2021.
The board remains in active discussions regarding the acquisition of new oil and gas assets and other corporate opportunities designed to recapitalise the business and drive future growth.
