
Mercury NZ reports NZ$1.07B in operating earnings

Mercury NZ (NZX:MCY) generated NZ$1.07 billion in operating earnings for 2026, driven by higher hydro generation.
The result represents a 36% increase over the 2025 financial year, supported by ongoing productivity initiatives.
Net profit after tax rose to NZ$321 million as a result of higher EBITDAF.
"We are converting strong financial performance into a new generation, greater system resilience and the capacity to support New Zealand's future economic growth," said Mercury CEO Stew Hamilton.
The company stated its NZ$710 million reinvestment into renewable assets is expected to add 1.1 terawatt-hours of annual generation.
Following the announcement, the Mercury NZ share price was $5.62.
The company expects its NZ$506 million Mahinerangi Wind Farm expansion will reach 228 megawatts of total capacity.
The board declared a final dividend of 17 NZ cents per share, bringing the total FY26 dividend to 27 cents per share.
For FY27, EBITDAF is expected to be NZ$1.08 billion and to declare a dividend of 29 cents per share.
