Lithium Energy (ASX:LEL) has completed its first-pass reverse circulation drilling programme at the Sandy Creek prospect.

Located within the Capricorn Gold-Copper Belt Project in central Queensland, the campaign represents a critical step in the company’s regional exploration strategy.

The programme involved the drilling of seven RC holes, reaching a cumulative depth of 1,708m.

While the majority of the holes reached their target depths of up to 300m, the company noted that hole SCK0003 was terminated early at 36m due to an incorrect azimuth.

This was subsequently rectified by the drilling of hole SCK0003A, ensuring the integrity of the geological data collection.

This drilling phase was specifically designed to test for gold and copper mineralisation within a suspected hydrothermal system, a target originally identified through surface sampling and historical data from 2011.

Field teams have now dispatched composited drill samples to the laboratory for comprehensive multi-element geochemical analysis.

The results will be pivotal, providing the data necessary to map lithology changes and identify anomalous elements that could signal a major discovery.
