Li-S Energy drone flight reaches two hour mark
- The EATP Pegasus long-endurance drone completed a flight lasting almost two hours and covering over 75km on a single battery pack.
- Shares were unchanged following the market update.
- The partners plan to evaluate commercial development targeting future platform sales across defence and commercial markets.
Li-S Energy (ASX:LIS) completed a series of Queensland test flights with its Pegasus drone, culminating in a flight of almost two hours covering over 75km.
On a cell-weight basis, the battery system delivered 80% more flight range than an equivalent high-performance professional lithium polymer drone pack.
Dr Lee Finniear, CEO and Managing Director of Li-S Energy, said, “With the exponential growth of drones and uncrewed systems in both commercial and military applications, flight endurance and sovereign capability are critical to Australia’s future in this sector.”
Designed for up to two battery packs, the drone is expected by the company to achieve flight durations of 5–8 hours and range up to 250km.
Following the announcement, the Li-S Energy share price was unchanged at $0.14.
The Pegasus drone combines an airframe from V-TOL Aerospace, a lithium-sulphur battery from Li-S Energy, and a perovskite solar array from Halocell Energy.
The partners stated that proposed government investments in drone and counter-drone technologies across the United States and Australia now exceed $100 billion.
