- InfraBuild is investing $15 million across Western Australia over two financial years.
- The company opened its eighteenth state facility in Port Hedland to supply steel products directly to the Pilbara region
- The expansion aims to support growing steel demand from the resources, renewable energy, and construction sectors.
InfraBuild has committed $15 million in capital expenditure across Western Australia over the next two financial years to service local demand.
This investment follows a $5 million operational spend last financial year and includes the opening of a 6,000sqm facility in Port Hedland.
"We have a strong belief in the long-term growth of WA and the role Australia's made steel can play in supporting it—that's why we’re making these investments commercially, without government grant funding," said InfraBuild Executive General Manager of Distribution and Processing Sean Mannering.
The company stated that the new location will eliminate previous five-hour round trips for regional customers who previously sourced supplies from Karratha or Perth.
InfraBuild operates as Australia's sole manufacturer of recycled steel products from scrap material.
Parent company GFG Alliance currently faces a $900 million debt claim from Greensill Capital administrators while Australian regulators investigate its historic involvement with the Whyalla steelworks.
