  • Imugene achieved a 71% overall response rate in early numbers for its azer-cel combination trial.
  • The company’s share price rose 18.92% following the clinical trial update.
  • The trial evaluated azer-cel combined with a Bruton Tyrosine Kinase inhibitor in heavily pre-treated blood cancer patients.

Imugene (ASX:IMU) released clinical results showing a 71% overall response rate in seven evaluable patients enrolled in Cohort 3 of its azer-cel Phase 1b trial.

The trial evaluated azer-cel combined with a Bruton Tyrosine Kinase inhibitor in patients whose disease had previously progressed on standard BTKi therapies.

The company stated that the findings demonstrate encouraging early clinical efficacy in a heavily pre-treated patient population with limited remaining treatment options.

At Day 28 of treatment, the trial recorded one complete response in mantle cell lymphoma, one partial response in chronic lymphocytic leukemia, one case of stable disease, and one case of progressive disease.

The business is continuing patient enrolment across ten clinical sites in the United States and five clinical sites in Australia.

Following the announcement, the Imugene share price was up at $0.044.

The company previously secured $11.1 million in funding commitments to support ongoing clinical development for its azer-cel CAR-T cell therapy platform.

The drug developer continues to advance multiple oncology pipelines targeting blood cancers and solid tumours through international clinical trials.
