  • Dimerix secured a composition of matter patent in Mexico for its acute kidney injury candidate, DMX-652.
  • The patent expands global intellectual property protection as the company prepares the candidate for Phase 2 clinical trials.
  • The grant supports Dimerix's strategy to build commercial value and pipeline depth alongside its lead kidney disease drug.

Dimerix (ASX:DXB) was granted a composition of matter patent in Mexico for its clinical-stage asset, DMX-652, securing exclusive intellectual property protection in the region.

The Mexican patent addition builds on the intellectual property portfolio for DMX-652, which includes a granted United States patent extending protection to April 2043.

"The grant of this composition of matter patent in Mexico represents another important milestone in building a strong global intellectual property portfolio around DMX-652," said Dimerix CEO & Managing Director Dr Nina Webster.

The company stated that the granted patent further strengthens the long-term commercial opportunity for DMX-652 as it advances the drug candidate towards Phase 2 clinical development.

Dimerix expects the secure patent coverage to enhance the asset's attractiveness to potential international commercial partners.

Following the announcement the Dimerix share price was unchanged at $0.25.

The biopharmaceutical firm acquired the global rights to DMX-652 to broaden its clinical pipeline into rare kidney conditions with high unmet needs.

DMX-652 functions as a selective USP30 inhibitor designed to support mitochondrial quality control in injured kidney cells.
