Core Lithium output hits 1.2 million tonnes

Core Lithium (ASX:CXO) produced its first spodumene concentrate at its recommissioned Finniss processing plant.

This operational milestone follows the restart of mining at the Grants open pit in May and crushing activities in August.

The restart of the processing plant was achieved on schedule within six months of the final investment decision.

Core Managing Director Paul Brown commented, "Producing our first spodumene concentrate from the Finniss processing plant is another significant milestone for Core and represents an important step in the staged restart of the operation."

Upgrades to the plant are expected to increase processing throughput capacity by 20% to 1.2 million tonnes per annum.

Following the announcement, the Core Lithium share price was up at $0.36.

The company focuses on producing lithium concentrate to supply the growing international battery manufacturing market.
