Australian-based Cobalt Blue (ASX:COB) and US-based Glomar Minerals have announced the formation of a strategic consortium known as Project Infinity.

The partnership aims to establish a world-first processing facility in the United States dedicated to extracting essential resources from polymetallic nodules.

By combining Glomar Minerals' extensive offshore extraction capabilities and licenses with Cobalt Blue’s proprietary metallurgical technology—refined at their Broken Hill Technology Centre—the venture seeks to revolutionise the supply chain for the US advanced manufacturing and defence industries.

The proposed facility is expected to have a processing capacity of approximately 200,000 tonnes per annum.

The deep-sea nodules represent a high-grade, multi-commodity feedstock containing vital elements such as cobalt, manganese, nickel, copper, iron, rare earths, and titanium.

The initiative directly supports the US–Australia framework for securing of supply in the mining and processing of critical minerals and rare earths, positioning Australia as a key technological partner in North American mineral security.

As the consortium progresses through feasibility studies and pilot testwork, the project promises to deliver a de-risked, diversified supply chain for the battery and mid-stream refining sectors.

At the time of reporting, Cobalt Blue's share price was $0.080.
