  • The joint effort aims to advance domestic energy security and assist in meeting Australia's upcoming mandate targets.

UK-based Carbon Neutral Fuels has entered into an agreement with Australia's Energy Estate to examine a sustainable aviation fuel project in north Queensland.

The joint initiative expands on a previous strategic alliance formed between Energy Estate and Queensland Cane Agriculture and Renewables to advance the BioNQ project.

“The collaboration is the first step towards meeting Australia’s upcoming mandate targets,” said Carbon Neutral Fuels Co-Founder Sophie Zienkiewicz.

The proposed facility intends to process sugarcane agricultural waste to manufacture low-carbon liquid aviation fuel.

Carbon Neutral Fuels stated that the project is expected to play a role in supporting Australia's domestic energy security.

The arrangement represents Carbon Neutral Fuels' initial step towards a potential long-term investment in the Australian energy sector.
