Brazilian Critical Minerals taps Southern Alliance Mining for rare earth production

Share

Brazilian Critical Minerals (ASX:BCM) and Southern Alliance Mining have entered into a non-binding collaboration agreement to explore synergies in the production and distribution of rare earth elements.

The announcement outlines a partnership aimed at evaluating development opportunities across both companies' respective project portfolios.

The primary objective is to align production capabilities with high-value market applications, potentially leading to a formal binding agreement for the sale of rare earth products.

The partnership leverages the technical expertise of SAM, which holds a 40% stake in MCRE Resources.

MCRE operates the Gerik mine in Malaysia, recognised as one of the largest in-situ recovery rare earth operations globally.

ISR technology is cited as the most prevalent extraction method in the sector, and its application at the Gerik mine has already proven successful; as of August 2025, the facility had successfully extracted and sold a substantial volume of rare earth materials.

The joint scope of work will focus on identifying operational efficiencies and establishing a robust supply chain to meet increasing global demand.

For BCM, which is listed on the ASX, the collaboration represents a vital step in advancing its international footprint.
