Andromeda Metals (ASX:ADN) secured its first patent from the Republic of South Africa for its alumina extraction process.

The approval follows successful pilot production that achieved a measured product purity of 99.9986 per cent.

"The granting of the first national patent is an important milestone in the development of Andromeda's High Purity Alumina business and validates the originality of our proprietary technology," said Andromeda Metals Acting CEO Sarah Clarke.

The patented technology forms part of a broader global application portfolio developed over 8 years of research using kaolin from the Great White Project.

A 2025 study estimated a potential development scale of up to 10,000 tonnes per annum with an average annual EBITDA of approximately $247 million.

Following the announcement, the Andromeda Metals share price was unchanged at $0.006.

The company recently signed a strategic supply agreement with Traxys North America to support potential distribution into the United States.

The business is continuing to progress related patent applications across several other international jurisdictions.
