Altair Minerals (ASX:ALR) secured 2km2 of adjoining exploration permits at its South Oko Project, expanding its total landholding in Guyana to 457km2.
The new permits increase the company's strike exposure along the Oko Shear Contact by approximately 30% to 18km.
Altair Minerals CEO Faheem Ahmed commented, “Consistent with the approach we have taken across Greater Oko – streamlining focus to core ground while selectively increasing our exposure to the most prospective corridors and rapidly expanding and developing priority zones.”
The newly acquired ground allows for complementary permits to be integrated into the active drilling programme at South Oko.
The company stated that the transaction reaffirms the Greater Oko Project's position as the largest gold exploration project in Guyana.
Following the announcement the Altair Minerals share price was unchanged at $0.049.
The project features prospective geology units, hydrothermal structural conduits, and iron-rich mafics within a mineralised corridor.
Previous exploration along a six-kilometre strike of the Oko Shear Contact by other operators led to discoveries of 6.1 million ounces of gold.
