Aguia Resources wins key licence for Brazilian Phosphate Project
Aguia Resources (ASX:AGR) has been granted an operating licence for its flagship Tres Estradas Phosphate Project.
The regulatory approval transitions Aguia into a domestic mining and processing producer, with on-site operations commencing on May 18.
Mining equipment has already mobilised to the site in Rio Grande do Sul, southern Brazil. Initial workstreams will focus on the removal of topsoil and the extraction of high-grade phosphate blocks from the north-eastern area of the open pit.
The extracted raw material will be transported to Aguia’s extensively refurbished processing plant in Caçapava do Sul.
The company expects the first batch of its proprietary ‘PAMPAFOS’ phosphate product to arrive at the facility for processing and bagging during the first week of June.
This operational breakthrough positions Aguia as one of the few domestic phosphate producers in a Brazilian market heavily reliant on expensive, supply-disrupted imports.
Managing Director and CEO Timothy Hosking highlighted that the project’s advancement validates a consistent, two-year strategy focused on a low capex and opex model to maximise shareholder value.
At the time of reporting, Aguia Resources’ share price was $0.025.
