The Australian Agricultural Company (ASX:AAC) released a critical update regarding the 2025/2026 monsoon flooding that inundated approximately 300,000 hectares of its north-western Queensland holdings.

Despite the vast scale of the deluge—which heavily impacted Carrum, Dalgonally, and the Canobie aggregation—the beef producer revealed that mitigation strategies implemented after the devastating 2019 floods have cushioned the blow.

Initial aerial and ground inspections indicate that infrastructure damage and livestock losses are lower than originally feared, thanks in large part to the strategic construction of flood refuge mounds and the proactive relocation of mobile machinery.

Current estimates suggest that roughly 7,000 head of cattle, valued at approximately $13 million, were lost to the rising waters.

While this represents a sobering loss, it accounts for only 1.5% of AAco's total herd.

On the infrastructure front, the company anticipates repair costs, emergency fodder drops, and helicopter mustering expenses to remain under $5 million, with the majority of damage sustained by fencing.

AAco has already moved to secure joint federal and state funding for fodder drops to offset these operational burdens, noting that its corporate scale typically limits its eligibility for standard disaster relief.

At the time of reporting, Australian Agricultural Company’s share price was $1.32.
