Worldcoin introduces "World ID" to differentiate humans and bots

Worldcoin, a startup project part-owned by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, has unveiled "World ID," aiming to use decentralised techniques to verify human identity online.
Although the project's goal is allegedly to reduce income inequality and improve online identity authentication, its primary function is to act as a digital passport stored on users' phones, confirming human status without demanding site-specific identification.
The introduction of Worldcoin Token, or WLD, is among the central points of Worldcoin. WLD is a digital currency that can be traded once a user's identity is verified as "human."
Overall, the project has attracted a polarised response, with some praising its ambitious scope, while others have criticised the privacy risk it brings.
