Alderan Resources begins drilling at New Years Copper prospect

Alderan Resources has commenced drilling at its New Years copper prospect, located in the Cactus copper-gold district in Utah, USA.
The initial drilling program includes three holes totalling 340m aimed at verifying historical drill intersections from 1964 and 2002 and understanding the controls on mineralisation.
The New Years Project, which has not been drilled since 1964, shows promise with historical intersections including 10.7m @ 1.60% Cu within 42.7m @ 0.80% Cu.
The current drilling also aims to investigate the gap between the historical Cactus copper-gold mine and the New Years prospect.
"It is exciting to get the first drilling at New Years underway since 1964 following a few days of delay due to logistical issues," said Scott Caithness, Managing Director of Alderan.
A stage two drilling program, dependent on stage one results, will focus on extending the identified mineralisation and testing additional geophysical targets.
Archaeological inspections for the proposed stage two drill sites will be conducted concurrently with the current drilling.
The Cactus district is a historical copper-gold mining area with reported production of 1.27Mt at 2.07% copper and 0.33g/t gold from the Cactus mine between 1905 and 1919.
Alderan's exploration includes detailed 3-D modelling and magnetics to further define mineralisation potential in the region.
Alderan Resources is an ASX-listed company that specialises in critical and precious metal exploration. The company is engaged in discovering and developing critical metal and gold deposits for mining.
