First Quantum Minerals slashes operations at Ravensthorpe nickel mine
Business news

Canadian miner First Quantum Minerals plans to cut operations at its Ravensthorpe nickel mine in Western Australia's southeast, reducing the workforce by about 30% due to a major collapse in nickel prices.
The company will process existing stockpiles under a new three-year model to improve financial viability.
Approximately 125 jobs are expected to be lost from the current 420 employees.
The shift will allow the mine to continue producing and exporting nickel with a lower carbon footprint.
While processing and exporting will continue, capacity will be halved from 30,000 to 16,000 tonnes annually.
