The Northern Territory Government has launched a major international recruitment drive for gas exploration, unveiling a massive new acreage release in the Beetaloo Basin.
Spanning approximately 4,000km2, the territory is positioning this expansion as a cornerstone of Australia's future energy security.
The high-stakes pitch is currently taking centre stage at the North American Prospect Expo in Houston.
A high-level delegation, led by the NT Department of Mining and Energy, is on the ground to engage directly with American explorers and global capital providers.
The goal is to attract the technical expertise and investment needed to unlock one of the world’s most significant shale plays.
The land sits in close proximity to existing gas pipelines and major highways, lowering the barrier to entry for logistics and transport.
The Beetaloo has already seen substantial de-risking from industry heavyweights like Santos (ASX:STO), Tamboran Resources (ASX:TBN), and Origin Energy (ASX:ORG), all of whom have drilled successful wells in the region.
NT Minister for Mining and Energy Gerard Maley noted that the move is designed to bridge the gap between vast untapped reserves and a hungry market.
