Austal (ASX:ASB) announced that Michelle Kruger, President of Austal USA, will retire effective June 1.
Kruger, a veteran of the shipbuilding industry, joined the company in 2022 as Vice President of Global Services and Support before being elevated to the presidency in April 2024.
Her tenure has been defined by navigating the shipbuilder through a "pivotal period" of organisational transition and rapid industrial growth.
Austal CEO Paddy Gregg lauded Kruger's impact, noting that she took the helm during a challenging era and collaborated with business development teams to secure a record-breaking order book.
The strategic expansion has significantly reinforced the company’s long-term financial outlook. Gregg expressed deep gratitude for her "long and distinguished career" and her dedication to the maritime sector.
To ensure operational stability during the search for a permanent successor, Austal has implemented a comprehensive interim leadership structure.
Michelle Kruger will move into a President Emeritus role to provide advisory continuity. Eugene Miller, the current COO, has been appointed Interim President.
Chris Chadwick, Chairman of the Austal USA board of managers, will shift from a non-executive to an executive role, serving as executive chairman.
