Woodside Energy has signed its inaugural long-term liquified natural gas sales agreement with Taiwan, highlighting robust demand for Australian gas aimed at securing energy needs through the next decade and potentially beyond 2040.

The deal with Taiwan’s CPC Corporation spans 10 years, starting this month, with an initial supply of approximately 6 million tonnes of LNG.

Additional deliveries totalling 8.4 million tonnes over the subsequent decade could extend the agreement through 2043, contingent upon specific conditions and commercial terms.

The LNG will be sourced from Woodside’s diverse global portfolio, which includes the new $12 billion Scarborough project in Western Australia, existing North West Shelf and Pluto projects, or via the company’s trading operations.
