The world of crypto is rich territory for some pretty mind-bending stories.

Nobody saw this coming.

A revolutionary Electricity Stablecoin (E-Stablecoin), designed to transmit energy as a form of information, has been developed by researchers at the federally sponsored Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in California.

Scientists Maxwell Murialdo and Jonathan L. Belof claim that their innovation would make it possible to transfer energy without the use of cables or a grid, as well as establish a fully collateralised stablecoin tied to a tangible asset, electricity, whereby the value is determined by its utility.

The E-Stablecoin would be used for transactions in the same way as other stablecoins, utilising smart contracts and a decentralised data storage cloud to manage the process.

Describing their work as a proof of concept, Murialdo and Belof stated ?further advances that increase the speed, transfer entropy, and scalability of information engines will likely be required,? in order to make a working E-stablecoin.
