Senators Ron Wyden and Cynthia Lummis have penned a letter to the Attorney General, raising apprehensions about the Department of Justice's (DOJ) approach to cryptocurrency asset providers.

They argue that recent DOJ actions, including measures against crypto software services, have expanded the scope of money transmission regulations.

The Senators criticise the DOJ's interpretation of federal statutes, suggesting it could potentially criminalise non-custodial crypto asset software services.

They urge the Attorney General to reconsider this interpretation, emphasising the need for clarity and logical coherence in defining money transmission as outlined by FinCEN.

This move comes in response to recent actions against crypto mixers like Samourai Wallet and Tornado Cash (CRYPTO:TORN), accused by the DOJ of operating unlicensed money-transmitting businesses.
