The U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) is gearing up to deploy and train artificial intelligence (AI) systems, aiming to enhance resilience against cyberattacks and improve data processing capabilities.
This initiative is in response to the anticipated conflict between AI and counter-AI, which involves identifying and countering manipulation attempts targeting AI systems.
The announcement was made on January 25 during a speech by Jude R. Sunderbruch, the DOD Cyber Crime Center's Executive Director, at the Google Defense Forum.
Sunderbruch stressed that the focus is on creating more robust AI systems capable of resisting cyberattacks.
He refrained from using the term "arms race" and instead referred to this situation as a "strategic competition."
