Edward Snowden, the whistleblower and former CIA contractor, has expressed support for the legal defense fund of Roman Storm, the co-founder of Tornado Cash, a cryptocurrency mixing service.

Roman Storm faces charges of money laundering related to his involvement with Tornado Cash, which was popular for allowing anonymous Ethereum transactions.

The U.S. Department of Justice arrested Storm and alleged that he and his colleague laundered over $1 billion in criminal proceeds through the service.

Snowden, an advocate for privacy and cryptocurrency, has endorsed the fundraiser for Storm's legal defense and emphasised the importance of privacy in the cryptocurrency space.

He has previously criticised the sanctions imposed on Tornado Cash as authoritarian and highlighted privacy issues in cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin.
