Hazer Group (ASX:HZR) has completed the pilot rig testing program for its Canada Project, marking a key milestone in the commercial-scale development of its hydrogen production technology.

Conducted with support from the British Columbia government's CleanBC Industry Fund, the tests validated the stability and scalability of Hazer's reactor design, including the planned 2,500-tonne-per-annum commercial reactor for FortisBC's hydrogen facility.

The program delivered critical data on heat transfer behavior and process optimisation, confirming the feasibility of commercial deployment.

Meanwhile, site selection efforts are progressing, with FortisBC shortlisting several potential locations undergoing feasibility assessments.

The step is crucial in securing hydrogen offtake agreements for applications such as sustainable aviation fuel, natural gas blending, and industrial use.

The project remains on track for a final investment decision in 2025, pending the completion of the front-end engineering and design study.

Supported by CAD$8 million ($8.9 million) in government funding, the initiative aligns with British Columbia’s CleanBC Roadmap to 2030, reinforcing FortisBC's commitment to renewable energy.

Hazer CEO Glenn Corrie commented, "With full support from FortisBC and local government backing, this exciting project has unlocked a design basis for a world-first, commercial-scale Hazer facility."
